Keno is fast-becoming a favorite in America. But the origins of the game came from the Far East. Keno is a game that was invented in China by a man named Cheung Leung.
The game is said to have a long history which includes the Chinese benefiting from the game. Cheung Leung wanted to make use of the revenue to help soldiers with arms and weapons to ward off possible attacks in their town. Cheung Leung succeeded and the game became popular. Keno was first called White Pigeon Game due to the manner it uses to deliver game results to villages.
The game did not involve any numbers and it is based on a Chinese poem, The Thousand Character Classic. The game was brought to America by Chinese immigrants, and it was popularly known as the Chinese Lottery and then later it was named as the Horse Race Keno. The term horse was used as a code to avoid any legal action for playing it.
Keno is basically a game of chance and it is an easy game to play because of its simple rules. The game is played with numbers on a ticket or board if played online. Each card has eighty squares marked 1 to 80 in a sequential manner. All a player has to do is mark up to fifteen numbers. The cards will be punched along the marked numbers and a copy will be produced. In most casinos, the wager is done after marking the numbers whereas with others, the amount of the bet will be decided before marking the numbers.
The result is determined by drawing twenty balls from a collective eighty balls in all. The numbered balls are displayed on an electronic Keno board. Players can compare and match their number from the results; the more matching number, the better the odds of winning.
