Backgammon for Dummies
If you think that backgammon is simply just another board game, then you are wrong. It is indeed a board game, the basics and the rules of the games are easy to learn. However, the strategies involved in winning in this board game are very complex which makes it all the more an exciting gambling game. What must a gambling player learn first to be able to play backgammon ?
Well, first, one must know that this gambling game only takes little time to be finished. Because of this, gambling players play backgammon in matches, which means in a match, there will be several games. To better understand this concept, think of the NBA Finals. The NBA Final match consists of seven games, which means it is a best of seven match. Same with a best of seven backgammon match, the gambling player who wins four games first wins the match.
This gambling game is played mostly by two players, but there are cases where it is played with more. The objective of this gambling game is to get your markers to your homeboard, avoiding your opponents' markers. Obviously, this will be difficult because each of you will be trying to do this before the other does.
On the board, gambling players will see twelve triangles per field, making twenty four in all. Each of them represents a point. Since the two gambling players are facing each other, what's point number twenty four for one gambling player is the others point number one. At beginning of the game, each gambling player will position two markers on his point number 24, three markers on his point number 8, and five markers on his point number thirteen and five markers again on his point number 6.
The movements of the markers are dependent on the gambling player's rolls of the dice. Two dice are used in this gambling game. Thus, if the gambling plar rolled a four and a six, then he mus move one of his markers four points forward, and another marker six points forward. If one of your markers stands alone, it can be hit by the opponent.
When it is hit, it goes to the bar, and you should re-enter it to the board by rolling a die. Because of this, you will lose a turn, so, you must avoid getting hit or your opponent will finish first and start bearing points. If your gambling opponent wins while you still have no pints, then he has won a gammon, which is aquivalent to winning twice. If this happens when one or more of your markers are in the bar, then he has won a backgammon, which is equal to winning thrice.
